This 2009 study investigated how calcium supplementation affects testosterone levels in both active and sedentary males over 4 weeks. Participants were divided into three groups: sedentary men taking calcium, active men taking calcium, and active men without calcium supplementation. Testosterone levels were measured before and after supplementation, both at rest and after intense exercise. Results showed that testosterone levels increased significantly with exercise and further increased with calcium supplementation, especially during and after intense activity. This suggests that while exercise boosts testosterone levels, calcium supplementation can enhance this effect, potentially benefiting athletic performance.
