Up Before the Enemy- Tips & Tricks for Waking Up Early
Waking up early isn’t about being a “morning person.”
It’s about winning the first decision of the day.
If you control the morning, you control the day.
Here’s how to do it—without excuses.
1. Set a Fixed Wake-Up Time (Every Day)
Pick a time.
Write it down.
Commit.
Not “around 5.”
Not “when I feel rested.”
A specific time—and the same time on weekends.
Consistency trains your body faster than motivation ever will.
2. Prepare the Night Before
Mornings are decided the night before.
Before bed:
- Lay out clothes
- Set coffee or water
- Decide your first task
If you remove decisions, you remove resistance.
3. Put the Alarm Out of Reach
If you can hit snooze, you will.
Put your alarm:
- Across the room
- In the bathroom
- Somewhere that forces you to stand up
Standing up breaks the cycle.
Staying in bed keeps you weak.
4. No Snooze. Ever.
Snooze is a lie.
It doesn’t give you rest.
It gives you regret.
The first time you hit snooze, you start the day by quitting.
Don’t do that.
5. Get Light in Your Eyes Immediately
Light tells your brain it’s go-time.
As soon as you’re up:
- Turn on lights
- Open blinds
- Step outside if possible
Dark rooms keep you tired.
Light wakes you up.
6. Move Your Body Right Away
You don’t need a workout.
You need movement.
Try:
- Push-ups
- Air squats
- A short walk
- Stretching
Movement flips the switch.
