By law, nutrition labels must list all carbohydrates together, including fiber and allulose. But not all carbs affect your body the same way. Allulose is a type of sugar that your body doesn’t metabolize for energy. It provides almost no calories and has no impact on blood sugar or insulin levels. Similarly, fiber isn’t digested into glucose.
That’s why we also list net carbs — the carbs that actually contribute calories. For our protein cookie:
- 17g total carbs
- minus 1g fiber
- minus 9g allulose
= 7g net carbs per cookie
This way, you can enjoy a delicious cookie with fewer carbs that impact your caloric intake.
